It seems that the Greeks called the path “of the gods” because it led to that stretch of sea (the Li Galli archipelago) where
the sirens lived, the same ones who had faced Ulysses. And also because, in traveling along it, it almost seemed like we
were reaching Mount Olympus. According to Greek myth, Leucosia, Partenope and Ligea were the three mermaids
who lived in the Sirenuse archipelago. Originally they had human form, companions of Persephone, daughter of
Demetre, and daughters of Oceanus. The myth has it that the four companions were together when Hades, god of the
Underworld, kidnapped Persephone to make her his bride of the Underworld against her will. While Persephone was
picking flowers on the plain of Nysa together with her companions, a daffodil of extraordinary beauty emerged from
the flowering meadow. Persephone, immersed in a sacred amazement, stretched out her hands to pick up the
wonderful flower when a chasm opened from the base of the narcissus from which the king of the dead, Hades,
emerged, who took her away to the underworld to marry her, still a girl, against his will.
the path of the gods is a nature trail, approximately 9 kilometers long, located within the Amalfi coast. The route starts
from a hamlet of Agerola (Bomerano), to end in the upper part of Positano (Nocelle) with a duration of approximately 7
hours at the end of the excursion. Once the excursion is finished, you can return from Positano by public transport or
private bus, or alternatively you can also choose the ferry that will take you to Amalfi. From here you need to take a bus
or shuttle that will take you back to Agerola (Bomerano). The path is not extremely demanding but at the same time
still requires a minimum level of physical fitness suitable for walking for about 10 km. The recommended clothing,
especially if you go during the warmer months, is certainly very light clothing with a cotton t-shirt. short sleeves or
tank top, shorts but if you are allergic to various plants or herbs we recommend knee-length pinochietto or long
trousers. The shoes we recommend wearing are obviously those suitable for trekking, high shoes with raised soles or
wedges are not recommended. To protect yourself from the sun it is advisable to wear a hat of any shape or size.
Finally, you cannot miss a backpack in which you will need to carry everything you will need for the excursion.
Along the way you can make a stop at the famous Pastore degli Dei who will delight you, in his farmhouse, with his
products that recall the authenticity of the place! An experience not to be missed!!!
For a safer excursion it is recommended to contact a local guide
